Australian schools are entrenching division

Notes:

  • Public V private education is a distraction.
  • Segregation in our schools is increases increases inequality between richer and poorer students.
  • Social mobility is retracted in Australia.
  • Education must be a level playing field, where a student's ability matters more than their parents income.
  • Must be to improve education holistically.

Summary:

what can we do to ensure schools serve all students better?
A report from the Australian Council for Educational Research found a growing divide between secondary schools in Australia between 2000 and 2012. Independent schools discriminate based on the social divisions of income and wealth and selective schools on academic talents. Public comprehensive schools receive students on the grounds of geographical location, and those located in higher income areas attract "better off" students. Students of similar socioeconomic class are educated in selected schools, with the advantaged in one area and the disadvantaged in another.

Personal Reflection:

In my opinion I find myself in line with the vision of article. Why is that? Because I believe that the education must be equal for all human been, in Australia, as a democratic state, should be a public debate on issues of equality in education has been settled early. In fact, there is inequality into public and private schools.
What we should do?

I think we have many low-income families, so we must taking into consideration about that. The development of public schools and make them competitive and thus attract students is an essential task.

WELCOME YOU, EVERYONE!
